Aircraft maintenance technicians devote a portion of their aviation career working with ground support equipment and ground handling of aircraft. The complexity of support equipment and the hazards involved in ground handling of expensive aircraft require that maintenance technicians possess a detailed knowledge of safe procedures used in aircraft servicing, taxiing, runup, and in the use of ground support equipment.
