OTHER: Prospective long term residents must obtain applications for resident visas from a Chilean Consulate prior to entering Chile. These applications must be accompanied by a letter from the applicant in quadruplicate, stating occupation, purpose of the trip, length of stay, and financial resources and liabilities. An individual representing a public or private institution should present a letter from the institution or commercial concern assuming financial responsibility for the employee.

AIRCRAFT ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

1. All private aircraft overflying or landing for noncommercial purposes must submit advance notification to Fuerza Aerea De Chile, Direccion General De Aeronautica Civil, Direccion De Operaciones Aeronauticas, Departamento Normas De Vuelo, Miguel Claro #1314, Santiago, Chile; Clasificador 3, Correo 9, Santiago, Chile; Phone: (562) 223-5028, 223-0606, 223-3532; Extentions 302 or 303; AFTN: SCSCZXON; (TELEGRAPHIC ADDRESS: COMM AVDIAERO SANTIAGO CHILE/TELEX: 241200 DAITA/CL) at least 24 hours prior to departure. If the notification is cable to COMM AVDIAERO, the notification should be sent at least 36 hours in advance.

2. Nonscheduled commercial aircraft overflying or making technical or commercial stops must submit advance notice to the Direccion De Aeronautica (address above) at least 12 hours in advance or by cable at least 24 hours and should provide:

a. Name of aircraft operator;

b. Aircraft nationality, registration marks and type;

c. Purpose of flight;

d. Point of origin and destination of passengers and cargo;

e. Last airport of landing prior to entering Chile;

f. Name of pilot; and

g. Date, time, route of flight and point of landing in Chile (if overflying without landing, date, time, route of flight and points of entry and exit from Chilean airspace).

3. For overflights only, the operator needs provide only:

a. Name and nationality of operator; and

b. Registration and type of aircraft, date and times of the flight over Chilean territory. Entry and departure of any aircraft on international flights may be only to or from duly designated international airports.

SPECIAL NOTICES

1. In the case of one single flight, or sporadic flights, the aircraft must carry on board the corresponding insurance policy or a certificate issued by the aeronautical authority of the state where it is registered, certifying that the insurance has been contracted. These documents must be shown to the competent officer upon request.

2. In the case of a series of nonscheduled flights, the corresponding insurance policies must be submitted after the first flight to the Junta De Aeronautica Civil, who will approve them. In this case, all information on the insurance must be sent to the Ministerio De Transporte Y telecomunicaciones, Junta De Aeronautica Civil, Bombero Saias 1390 - Septimo Piso, Santiago, Chile. 3. To guard against possible delays in the event that the required notification message is not received, it is recommended that a copy of the message endorsed by the telegraph company be carried by the pilot to prove that the message was sent. It is further recommended that immediately upon arrival the pilot check with the addressee to ascertain whether the message was received.

4. In the event the authorization solicited requires an answer from the Chilean aeronautical authorities prior to initiating the flight, a prepaid reply must accompany the request, unless the petition is made sufficiently in advance to permit a reply by ordinary air mail.

5. Aircraft remaining in Chile for more than 30 days require special authorization from the Director-General as well as flights whose passengers will be participating in special events and air travel club flights.
