PERSONAL ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

PASSPORT: Required

VISA: Required except for tourists remaining for less than 90 days.

HEALTH & IMMUNIZATION: The U.S. Public Health Service advises that a malaria risk, including chloroquine resistant P. Falciparum, exists in all areas of the country below 1500 meters except for Quito and the

Galapogas Islands.

OTHER: Business travelers should have a letter of recommendation from the firm they represent, stating occupation, purpose of visit, length of stay and financial responsibility. A round trip ticket or proof of means of departure is required. There is a $20.00 exit tax payable by all international travelers immediately prior to departure.

AIRCRAFT ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

All private and nonscheduled commercial aircraft overflying or landing for commercial or noncommercial purposes must obtain prior permission from the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Casilla 2077, Quito, Ecuador (TELEGRAPHIC ADDRESS: DIRAVIACIVIL QUITO/TELEX: 2710-DAC UIO ED) at least a minimum of 48 hours, or a maximum 15 days prior to departure. All requests must include:

a. Type of aircraft and registration marks;

b. Name of pilot and number of crew;

c. Number of passengers and type and amount of cargo;

d. Complete route of flight from point of origin to point of destination;

e. Date and time of arrival, stopover and departure and airports concerned; and

f. Purpose of flight. Aircraft that will be overflying only must substitute date and time of entry and exit of Ecuadorian airspace for item (e) above. Authorization for the flight will be valid for no more than 5 days from the estimated date/time requested. Once expired a new request must be submitted. All requests must provide for a prepaid response if AFTN is not used. Commercial aircraft overflying must indicate business address for effective billing by DGCA. Unauthorized aircraft will be intercepted.
