SPECIAL NOTICES

Operators of light aircraft making flights in the Sondrestrom Flight Information Region are cautioned to take note that VHF coverage within the airspace is incomplete, and that an operable High Frequency (HF) transceiver is needed to comply with the requirements of the Greenland Aeronautical Information Publication (AIP), which applies. Moreover, pilots must ascertain and have available the correct HF frequencies to be used prior to entering the area. Compliance with this requirement is necessary to reduce risks involved in operations in this remote area, and to avoid unnecessary and expensive alerts and search activities.
