PERSONAL ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
PASSPORT: Required
VISA: Not required for up to 12 months; however, when stay exceeds three months permission for continued stay must be received from immigration officials.
HEALTH & IMMUNIZATION: Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificates are required for all travelers arriving from infected areas. The U.S. Public Health Service advises a malaria threat exists throughout the country. This includes chloroquine resistant P. Falciparum.
OTHER: Visitors must be able to satisfy the Immigration Officer on arrival that they have sufficient financial resources to cover the period of their stay and the cost of their return journey.

AIRCRAFT ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
1. All private and nonscheduled commercial aircraft overflying or landing for commercial or noncommercial purposes, must obtain prior permission from the Chief Civil Aviation Officer, Flight Information Center, Kamuzu International Airport, P.O. Box 44, Lumbadzi, Malawi, (TELEGRAPHIC ADDRESS: CIVAIR LILONGWE/TELEX: 4525 COMCENT MI) at least 6 days prior to departure.
2. All applications must include:
a. Names of aircraft operator and crew members;
b. Permit number in the flight plan;
c. Aircraft type and registration marks;
d. Point of departure prior to entering the airspace of Malawi and the airport of arrival;
e. Complete route of flight, including points and times of entering and exiting Malawi airspace;
f. Purpose of flight-business flights include the nature of the business and the name of the organization in Malawi being visited;
g. Number of passengers and type and amount of cargo;
h. Name of agent in Malawi; and
i. In the case of arriving aircraft exceeding 60,000 kg. GWT, include operating weights and tire pressures.
3. Aircraft expecting to make a series of commercial flights over a period in excess of 30 days must submit the request at least 60 days in advance on forms available from the Chief Civil Aviation Officer. For a series of commercial flights over a period of 30 days or less, the request must be made at least 7 days in advance on the same forms.
4. Pilots flying foreign registered aircraft in Malawi will be required to present their licenses at the Air Traffic Services Reporting Office on arrival at the airport of entry. They will also be required to do so when filing a flight plan for any destination. The officer checking the license will have to be satisfied that the pilot license holder is properly licensed for the type of aircraft. He will check the nationalities of both aircraft and license before permitting the aircraft to depart.
