PERSONAL ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

PASSPORT: Required

VISA: U.S. citizens visiting Namibia as tourist or on a business trip that is shorter than 90 days need no visas. However, if any work is done in Namibia a relevant work permit and visa is required.

HEALTH & IMMUNIZATION: Yellow Fever, Cholera and Plaque Vaccination Certificates are required for all travelers arriving from infected areas. The U.S. Public Health Service reports a malaria risk exists throughout Namibia.

OTHER: A letter of confirmation that the person is able to maintain himself/herself on own funds may be required.

AIRCRAFT ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

1. All foreign registered aircraft wishing to overflying and/or land in Namibian territory must obtain prior approval for such.

2. Application for State and Military aircraft must reach the Namibian Ministry of Foreign Affairs 48 hours before commencement of flight. Applications in this regard should be forwarded to: Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Private Bag 13347, Windhoek Namibia; Telephone: (246) 61 282 9111; FAX: (246) 61 221145.

3. Application for all other flights must reach the Namibian Civil Aviation Directorate at least 24 hours before commencement of the flight. Applications should be forwarded to: The Officer in Charge, Aeronautical Information Center, Civil Aviation Directorate, Private Bag 12005, Windhoek, Namibia;

4. Applications for flights over weekends should reach the Aeronautical Information Center not later than

1100 UTC on the last working day before the weekend.

5. In the event of an emergency, applications for all flights, other than State or Military, can be forwarded to: Air Traffic Control, Windhoek International Airport; Telephone: (246) 626 40256/40276; FAX: (246) 626 40227; AFTN: FYWHYNYX; TELEX: 789WK.

6. Applications should contain the following information:

a. Aircraft callsign and registration number;

b. Aircraft type;

c. Operator;

d. Purpose of flight;

e. Point of departure and estimated time of departure (UTC);

f. Destination estimated time and date of arrival (UTC);

g. Points of landing and departure within Namibia, including ETA's and ETD's (UTC);

h. Position of entry point into and exit point out of Namibian airspace and estimates (UTC);

i. Expected flight level/altitude of flight;

j. Name and nationality of pilot in command; and

k. Number of passengers.

CORPORATE AIRCRAFT CONSTRAINTS

1. No foreign registered aircraft may indulge in any commercial activities within Namibia unless authorization has been obtained from the Director of Civil Aviation, Civil Aviation Directorate,. Department of Transport, Ministry of Works, Transport and Communications, Private Bag 12005, Windhoek; Telephone: (246) 61 239850;

2. The Civil Aviation Directorate is based at Eros Aerodrome in Windhoek.

SPECIAL NOTICES

1. Aircraft on flight to Namibia shall first land at one of the designated aerodromes of entry.

2. Aircraft shall also depart from one of the said designated aerodromes of exit on the last leg of the flight leaving Namibia.

3. The pilot in command shall report arrival at the designated aerodrome to the nearest police officer, immigration officer and customs official and ensure that no goods are offloaded and no passenger will leave the aerodrome without the permission of such officers.

4. Before departure from a designated aerodrome the pilot in command shall report to the nearest police officer, immigration officer and customs official with all the information in relation to the journey, aircraft, passengers, crew and and cargo and not depart without the written permission of such officers.

5. In the event of an emergency landing at a place other than a designated aerodrome or when forced to land before crossing the national border on departure the requirements of these regulations shall be complied with accordingly.
