HEALTH & IMMUNIZATION: The U.S. Public Health Service reports that a malaria risk (including chloroquine resistant P. Falciparum) exists throughout the country below 600 meters, except for the coastal area from Maracaibo to the Guyanese border.

OTHER: Upon departure traveler is assessed an airport user fee. An exit tax is assessed to all travelers with business or residence visas.

AIRCRAFT ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

1. Privately owned aircraft entering Venezuela for pleasure or tourism purposes do not require prior permission. Corporate aircraft, if company owned and carrying company personnel, do not require prior permission.

2. Nonscheduled commercial aircraft, corporate aircraft carrying cargo, chartered aircraft, or any type of aircraft entering Venezuelan airspace for commercial purposes, must obtain prior permission from the Direccion de Transporte Aereo, Ministerio de Transport y Communicaciones, Torre Este, Piso 34, Parque Central, Caracas, Venezuela (TELEGRAPHIC ADDRESS: CIVILAIR CARACAS/TELEX: 24626 MTC TA VC or 28022 MTC DAC VC) at least 3 days prior to departure. All requests must include provisions for Pre-Paid Reply and the reply must be carried on board the aircraft upon arrival. Use of AFTN is not permitted for requesting prior permits.

3. All requests must include:

a. Name of operator and address;

b. Type of aircraft and tail number;

c. Origin and destination of flight;

d. Number of passengers or type of cargo; and

e. Chartered, if applicable.

4. Air travel club flights must also list:

a. Number of flights intended and their dates;

b. Number of passengers; and

c. Proof of insurance coverage for third party, crew and passengers.

CORPORATE AIRCRAFT CONSTRAINTS

Cabotage permitted for personnel of company which owns and operates the aircraft.

SPECIAL NOTICES

Prior permission for private (pleasure) aircraft to land at national (domestic) airports for tourism purposes is no longer required but initial landing must always be made at an international airport where customs and immigration procedures must be completed and a national (domestic) flight plan filed. For flights south of the Orinoco River, aircraft must first stop at either Ciudad Bolivar, Puerto Ordaz or San Fernando de Apure to notify authorities about length of intended stay or overflight route, survival equipment on board and number of passengers. Neither adequate navigational aids nor communications facilities exist in this zone.
