PERSONAL ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

PASSPORT: Required

VISA: Persons entering Argentina for tourism on regular U.S. passports do not need Argentine visas. For business and other non-tourism purposes, or for persons using official or diplomatic passports, a visa may be required. In those situations, travelers should check with an Argentine Consulate before beginning travel.

HEALTH & IMMUNIZATION: U.S. Public Health Service advises that a malaria risk exists in areas near the Bolivian border below 1,200 meters from October thru May.

AIRCRAFT ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

1. All private aircraft overflying or landing for commercial or noncommercial purposes must obtain prior permission from the Direccion de Transito Aereo, Fuerza Aerea Argentina (TELEPHONE: 312-3178/TELEX: 21763 FUAER AR, AT. DITRAER FAX: 393-3008) at least 48 hours prior to departure. The request must include:

a. Type of aircraft and aircraft registration marks;

b. Name of pilot and his license number;

c. Route to be followed, including name of airport of departure, of arrival, of final destination and alternative airports for emergencies;

d. Number of crew members and passengers; and

e. Purpose of flight.

2. All nonscheduled commercial aircraft landing for commercial or noncommercial purposes must obtain prior permission from the Direccion de Transito Aereo and the Direccion Nacional de Transporte Aereo, Ministerio de Obras Y Servicios Publicos, Buenos Aires, (TE 38-1449 TELEX: 28360 DNTTA AR, ATT DNTAC/REGIMEN DE SERVICIO, FAX: 814-4067). Requests must be submitted far enough in advance to insure consideration and a reply to the request (minimum term 2 weeks prior to arrival).

3. All requests submitted to the Direccion Nacional de Transporte Aereo Comercial (DNTAC) should include, as appropriate:

a. Type of aircraft, nationality and registration marks;

b. Name of pilot and his pilot license number;

c. Dates and times of entry and exit from Argentine airspace;

d. Route to be followed including name of airport of departure, of arrival, of final destination and alternative airports for emergencies;

e. Number of crew members and passengers;

f. If carrier will discharge or take passengers at its stops in Argentina;

g. Type and amount of cargo; and

h. A certified copy of the aircraft insurance policy should reach the DNTAC Office 2 weeks prior to the flight.

CORPORATE AIRCRAFT CONSTRAINTS

Cabotage flights are prohibited. Aircraft are allowed to operate in the country 45 days a year which need not be consecutive. An extension of 75 days may be granted for tourism purposes only.

SPECIAL NOTICES

1. All private aircraft entering or leaving Argentine territory must land at and depart from the international airport nearest the point where the aircraft will cross the Argentine border.

2. All aircraft must contact Argentine ATC before crossing the border.

3. Customs inspection is required for anyone flying in or out the `Isla Grande De Tierra Del Fuego'.
