CORPORATE AIRCRAFT CONSTRAINTS
Aircraft owned/operated by corporations and transporting their respective corporate staff need not obtain prior permission. Transport of corporate staff on aircraft which are chartered and are clearly not owned/operated by the corporation under reference must obtain prior permission as such flights would be classified as commercial in nature. Permission for such flights must be obtained from the Permanent Secretary (International Transport), Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Tourism and International Transport. A local handling company is required for such flights, inter alia, in order to ensure the quality of service these operations would require.
A Nonscheduled Permit is required by the operator of any aircraft chartered to transport any patient into or out of
Barbados. A permit must be obtained from the Permanent Secretary (International Transport) Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Tourism and International Transport at least seventy-two hours prior to the service. In processing such applications local authorities will seek to ensure that only suitably equipped aircraft including access door(s) are granted permits. This process ensures that only "Bona Fide" operators carry out such service which is essential to the proper care of the patient. It is therefore recommended that long term Nonscheduled Permits are obtained.
International General Aviation Air Travel Club using light single/twin engine aircraft are not required to have prior permission to land at Barbados; however, such flights should not arrive on weekends (Friday-Sunday) between the peak hours of 1700 U.T.C. and 2100 U.T.C. an ATS Flight Plan must be filed with the AIS office prior to arrival in Barbados. This requirement is to ensure that such flights do not create undue apron congestion.
