HEALTH & IMMUNIZATION: Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate required for travelers arriving from infected areas. Brazil further recommends vaccination for travel to rural areas in northern and western Brazil. The U.S. Public Health Service advises that (chloroquine resistant P. Falciparum) malaria exists below 900 meters in most areas of the country except for coastal areas from Porto Allegro south.

AIRCRAFT ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

1. All private and nonscheduled commercial aircraft overflying or landing for noncommercial purposes must give 24 hour prior notice to both the Department of Civil Aviation (TELEGRAPHIC ADDRESS: DEPAC RIO DE JANEIRO/TELEX: 02152311) and to the Airport of landing.

2. Prior notifications will become valid only after acknowledgement of the notification has been received. The acknowledgement must be carried on board the aircraft during the flight into or across Brazilian territory.

3. Nonscheduled commercial aircraft landing for commercial purposes must obtain prior permission from the Department of Civil Aviation, Santos Dumont Airport, 4 Andar 20021 Rio de Janeiro, RJ Brazil (TELEGRAPHIC ADDRESS: DEPAC RIO DE JANEIRO/TELEX: 02152315/02152316/02152320) at least 15 days prior to arrival. (If diplomatic channels are used, permission must be requested 30 days in advance.) All requests must include:

a. Name, citizenship and address of aircraft owner and/or operator;

b. Aircraft type and registration marks;

c. Name and citizenship of the pilot in command;

d. Names, qualification and issuing state of crew members licenses;

e. Route of flight and if aircraft is IFR equipped;

f. Dates, times of arrival and departure;

g. Airports of entry, intermediate stops and final departure;

h. Purpose of flight, number of passengers and amount of cargo, including points of loading/unloading of passengers/cargo; and

i. Intended period of permanency of aircraft in Brazil. (Aircraft may remain in Brazil for a maximum of

105 days but a request for an extension may be made 15 days prior to the expiration of the period.)
