HEALTH & IMMUNIZATION: Yellow Fever and Cholera Vaccination Certificates are required for all travelers arriving from infected areas and arriving in or destined for areas in Zaire south of 10 degrees South Latitude. Zaire recommends vaccination against typhoid. The U.S. Public Health Service reports that a malaria risk exists throughout the country.

AIRCRAFT ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

1. All private and non-scheduled commercial aircraft overflying or landing for commercial or noncommercial purposes must obtain prior permission from the Direction Generale de la Regie des Voies Aeriennes, B.P. 6574, Kinshasa/ N'Dolo, Democratic Republic of Congo (TELEGRAPHIC ADDRESS: CIVILAIR KINSHASA/

TELEX: 21366 U/S) at least 3 working days prior to departure.

2. All requests must include:

a. Name of aircraft operator;

b. Aircraft type, nationality and registration marks;

c. Radio identification;

d. Complete route of flight including dates and times of arrival and departure;

e. Purpose of the flight; and

f. Number of passengers and type and amount of cargo, if landing for commercial purposes.

CORPORATE AIRCRAFT CONSTRAINTS

Cabotage permitted for corporate aircraft carrying employees or persons having commercial relations with the firm. Any other Cabotage requires specific authorization from Civil Aviation Authority.

SPECIAL NOTICES

Commercial communication with Congo via TELEX is often slow and sometimes nonfunctional. Those who provide a complete return address in their clearance request can receive a response via direct relay cable from the embassy; however, the Government of Congo requires a minimum of 3 working days to process applications. Civil aviation offices are closed on Saturdays and Sundays. It is recommended that 1 (one) working week be allowed for the TELEX to reach the Embassy.
