AIRCRAFT ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

GENERALITIES

All flights over the territory of French Polynesia, with or without intermediate stops, must be carried out in accordance with the Civil Aviation Regulations applicable in that territory. Any aircraft entering the territory of French Polynesia must make its first landing at the airport of TAHITI-FAA'A and proceed to the international parking area, where are located the customs, police, health and phytosanitary controls. Similarly, all aircraft leaving the territory of French Polynesia must make their final stop at the same airport.

a) Scheduled flights

- Overflying and non-traffic stops:

The aircraft of airlines belonging to countries which are signatories of the transit agreement or are entitled to equivalent rights by a bilateral agreement with France may overfly the territory of French Polynesia or make a non-traffic stop there. In other cases, a clearance request must be submitted to "Monsieur Le Haut Commissaire de la Republique en Polynesie Francaise, Direction du Service d'Etat de l'Aviation civile" (postal address:

- Traffic stops:

The operation for commercial purposes of scheduled international flights to or from the territory of French Polynesia must take place in accordance with the provisions contained in the aeronautical agreements made between France and the countries in which the operating airlines are based.

- Documents required for authorizing the entry and departure of aircraft::

A cargo manifest in duplicate is required, as shown in appendix 3 of annex 9. This document is not called for it the aircraft does not load (nor discharge) any cargo.

- Sanitary control measures applied to aircraft:

Aircraft must comply with the current provisions concerning international sanitary regulations. In particular, all aircraft arriving from abroad may be subjected to disinfecting, carried out on its arrival in the territory. Block-away disinfecting, carried out prior to landing, is not acceptable. However, in the case of aircraft arriving from countries which are free from quarantinable diseases, this blocks-away disinfecting may be acceptable if it is carried out effectively and under the responsibility of the aircraft captain.

b) Non-scheduled flights

- Formalities

Overflying and non-traffic stops:

Any aircraft which satisfies the conditions of the first sub-paragraph of paragraph a) above, which is carrying out a nonscheduled flight and which wishes to overfly the territory of French Polynesia or make a non-traffic stop there, will not be required to obtain prior clearance.

However, aircraft whose mass weight is equal to or greater than 20 tons making a technical stopover at Tahiti FAA'A aerodrome must give prior notice. This must be addressed to the aerodrome manager at least 72 hours before the estimated time of arrival and stipulate the operator's address, the type and registration number of the ACFT, the dates and times of arrival and departure.

- Traffic stops:

Commercial nonscheduled flights between a foreign country and the territory of French Polynesia must be covered by a prior clearance. All the information on the formalities to be completed will be provided on request, by the "Direction du Service d'Etat de l'Aviation Civile". The authorization request must be addressed to "Monsieur le President du Government de Polynesie Francaise, Direction du Service d'Etat de l'Aviation Civile", to arrive not less than one month before the intended date of the flight (address see scheduled flights).

- Documents required for aircraft arrival and departure clearances:

Nonscheduled commercial aircraft (international traffic) which remain in the territory for more than 7 days must be covered by a temporary import licence.

c) Private flights:

- Landing clearance:

All private flights must obtain prior landing clearance. All requests must be addressed to "Monsieur le Haut Commissaire de la Republique en Polynesie Francaise - Direction du Service d'Etat de l'Aviation Civile" - and reach him not less than 72 hours before the arrival of the aircraft.

- Documents required for aircraft arrival and departure clearances:

For a stay of longer than 7 days, the aircraft is, as applicable, to be placed under temporary import system or be covered by a deposit guarantee.

d) All notifications must include:

1. Operator and address;

2. Aircraft type, registration marks;

3. Aircraft classification;

4. Itinerary;

5. Route;

6. Purpose of flight;

7. Crew; and

8. Number of passengers.
