AIRCRAFT ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
1. Private aircraft overflying or landing need not obtain prior permission but must have a flight plan on file
at least two (2) hours prior to entry into Italian airspace to provide advance notification.
2. Nonscheduled commercial flights overflying or landing for commercial or noncommercial purposes must obtain prior permission from the Ministero dei Transporti, Direzione Generale Aviazione Civile, Servizio 3, Transporti Aerei, Piazzale Degli Archivi, 00100 Roma, Italy (TELEGRAPHIC ADDRESS: CIVILAVIA ROMA/EUR TELEX: 613080 -616150 ROMTTYA ``SITA'') at least 3 days prior to departure if overflying or landing for noncommercial purposes; 30 days prior for a series of flights and for intercontinental flights; 5 days prior for inter-European flights. Inter-Continental charter flights, particularly one-stop inclusive tour and ABC flights, are subject to special regulation and requests should be submitted on forms available from the Ministero dei Transporti at least 60 days prior to departure to insure that all formalities are complied with.
3. All requests must include:
a. Name, address, business and nationality of operator or charterer;
b. Type of aircraft and registration marks;
c. Complete itinerary of flight from point of origin to final destination, including intermediate landing for loading/offloading purposes;
d. Route of flight, dates and times of entering Italian airspace and airport landing and departure;
e. Purpose of flight;
f. Number of passengers;
g. Type and amount of cargo with specific indication of any material subject to special restrictions or authorization such as dangerous materials, weapons, ammunition, etc.; and
h. Any changes in the date or times of arrival or entry into Italian airspace must be forwarded to the Direzione Generale Aviazione Civile at least 24 hours before entry into Italian airspace.
