PERSONAL ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

HEALTH & IMMUNIZATION: Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificates are required for travelers arriving from infected area and also for travelers arriving from Panama and any country in Africa and South America, any part of which lies between 15 degrees North Latitude and 10 degrees South Latitude. The U.S. Public Health Service reports that a malaria risk exists throughout the country below 2,500 meters, except for the city of Nairobi. It also reports that chloroquine resistant P. Falciparum is present in all malarial areas.

OTHER: Visitors entry and exit passes are required along with the visa for the country of destination after Kenya. Visitor may be required to either show proof of means of departure from Kenya or make a deposit in cash or travelers checks until departure.

AIRCRAFT ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

1. All private and nonscheduled commercial aircraft overflying or landing for commercial or noncommercial purposes must obtain prior permission from the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transport and Communications, P.O. Box 52692 Nairobi, Kenya (TELEGRAPHIC ADDRESS: TRANSCOM NAIROBI/TELEX: 22272) at least

7 days prior to departure.

2. All requests must include:

a. Name and address of aircraft operator;

b. Aircraft type and registration marks;

c. Purpose of flight;

d. Date and place of origin of flight;

e. Complete route of flight including dates and times of entry into and exit from Kenyan airspace and times and aerodromes of landing, if landing;

f. Name of pilot and number of crew; and

g. Number of passengers and type and amount of cargo.

3. All nonscheduled commercial aircraft landing for commercial purposes must, additionally, obtain an air service license from the Director of Kenya Civil Aviation, P.O. Box 30163, Nairobi, Kenya (TELEX: 25239) at least 28 days prior to departure (14 days if the requested period of validity for the air service license is 7 days or less). All applications must include:

a. Name and address of aircraft operator;

b. Type of flight;

c. Aircraft type and registration marks;

d. Date and place of origin of flight;

e. Complete route of flight including dates and times and points of landing;

f. Name of pilot and number of crew;

g. Number of passengers and type and amount of cargo, including details concerning loading and offloading of passengers and cargo;

h. Whether the flight is in conformance with IATA Resolution NR 045;

i. Name and address of charterer;

j. Details of cost to the charterer; and

k. Name and address of the local agent, if any.

4. While the Kenyan Civil Aviation Board (KCAB) normally requires 7 days advance notice, this requirement is routinely waived for medical and other emergencies. Emergency clearances can be obtained by telex to the KCAB at 22272 TRANSCOM or telephone 729200, ext. 764, Mr. J.K. Mwosa, or any employee handling clearances. If unable to contact the KCAB, contact the Air Traffic Control Officer or Briefing Officer at Kenyatta Airport on 822100 or Wilson Airport on 501910. Once in contact with either of the above, request the name and phone number of the Duty Officer, who can provide an emergency clearance by phone.
