Cholera and Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificates are required for all travelers arriving from infected areas. The U.S. Public Health Service reports that a malaria risk exists throughout the country below 1,700 meters from September through March. Chloroquine resistant P. Falciparum exists in all malarial areas.

AIRCRAFT ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

1. All private and nonscheduled commercial aircraft overflying or landing for commercial and noncommercial purposes must obtain prior permission from the Ministre Des Transports, De La Meteorologie Et Du Tourisme, Direction De L'Aviation Civile, Service Des Transports Aeriens, B.P. 47, Antananarivo, Madagascar (TELEGRAPHIC ADDRESS: AVIACIVIL ANTANANARIVO/TELEX: NONE) at least 15 days prior to departure (AFTN ADDRESS: FMMDYA).

2. All requests must include provision for prepaid reply and include:

a. Aircraft type, nationality and registration marks;

b. Name and address of aircraft owners, operator and charterer;

c. Number of passengers and type and amount of cargo;

d. Names, nationalities, dates and places of birth of all persons on board and functions of crew members;

e. Nature of flight (overflight, technical stopover, etc.);

f. Complete route of flight from original point of departure to final destination, including intermediate stops;

g. Dates and times of arrival and departure at airports to be used in Madagascar;

h. Purpose of flight; and

i. Any other information which may be pertinent to the flight.

CORPORATE AIRCRAFT CONSTRAINTS

Cabotage requires permission of Ministry of Transport. Aircraft flying to/from South Africa may not land in Madagascar or use its airspace.

SPECIAL NOTICES

Aircraft overflying or landing without prior approval face military interception and risk being shot down; all occupants will be subject to arrest and detainment.
