AIRCRAFT ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

1. All private and nonscheduled commercial aircraft overflying Malta need not obtain prior permission; however, a flight plan must be on file.

2. Private and commercial flights landing in Malta must obtain prior permission from the Director of Civil Aviation, Luqa Airport, Malta (TELEGRAPHIC ADDRESS: CIVILAIR MALTA/TELEX: 1654 CAMLT MW) at least 48 hours prior to departure.

3. Requests must include:

a. Name of operating company;

b. Type and registration marks of aircraft;

c. Date and time of arrival at and departure from Malta;

d. Itinerary of the flight from the point of origin to destination;

e. Details of passengers, weight and kind of freight for or to be embarked at Malta;

f. Name, address and business of charter;

g. Aircraft certificate of insurance for damages against third parties to be sent when application is made for landing. Commercial flights which involve the loading or unloading of cargo or passengers require a special permit. Technical stops also require 48 hour notification; and

h. Aircraft entering Malta Flight Information region are to carry a serviceable transponder.

1. All operators are advised to forward their fuel uplift requirements prior to arrival to Enemalta Corporation, Petroleum Division, Auberge de Castille, Valletta (TELEX: 1219 ELPEGA MW); available 24 hours, 7 days a week; Enemalta Aviation Service Station, Luqa Airport, TELEPHONE: 284480/TELEX: 1219 ELPEGA MW).

2. The aircraft commander operating a nonscheduled commercial flight not being part of a series of flights is required to present to the Airport Duty Officer (DCA) the following documents before departure: flight crew licenses, aircraft certificate of insurance for damage against third parties, and the aircraft certificate of registration.
