HEALTH & IMMUNIZATION: Cholera Vaccination Certificates are required for all travelers arriving from infected areas. Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificates are required for all travelers. The U.S. Public Health Service reports that a malaria risk exists throughout the country. AIDS is present in Nigeria and appropriate precautions must be taken to preclude sexual and blood/needle transmission.

AIRCRAFT ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

1. All private and nonscheduled commercial aircraft overflying or landing for commercial or noncommercial purposes must obtain prior approval from the Direction de L'Aeronautique Civile, B.P. 727, Niamey, Niger (TELEGRAPHIC ADDRESS: MINTRANS/TELEX: 5249NI AFTN: DRRVYAYX) at least 4 working days prior to departure. Application for landing and overflight permission should be submitted directly to the Nigerian Federal Civil Aviation Authority.

2. All requests must include:

a. Type of aircraft and registration marks;

b. Name of pilot and number of crew;

c. Number of passengers and type and amount of cargo, if landing;

d. Route of flight from point of origin to final destination, including intermediate stops;

e. Date, time and airport of arrival or entry into the airspace of Niger; and

f. Purpose of flight.

3. Scheduled commercial flights must meet the following requirements:

a. The country of the airline concerned must have a bilateral air transport agreement with Niger;

b. Schedules must be approved by the Nigerian Ministry of Transport;

c. A request for authorization, accompanied by an information form, must be sent to the Ministry of Transport at least 30 days prior to the departure date; and

d. Requests for extra sections or additional flights to supplement existing scheduled service should be filed at least 15 days in advance.

NOTE-
Pilots should receive clearance form the Civil Aviation Authority before departure and are advised to carry a copy of the approved telegram.
