PERSONAL ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

HEALTH & IMMUNIZATION: Yellow Fever Vaccination and Cholera Certificates are required for travelers arriving from infected areas and also for travelers arriving from Panama and those countries in Africa and South America, any part of which lies between 15 degrees North Latitude and 10 degrees South Latitude. The U.S. Public Health Service reports that a malaria risk (including chloroquine resistant P. Falciparum) exists throughout the country.

OTHER: Visitors entry and exit passes are required along with visa for country of destination after Tanzania. Visitor must also either show proof of means of departure or deposit $1,000.00 in cash or travelers checks until departure.

AIRCRAFT ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

1. All aircraft overflying or landing for any purpose must obtain permission from the Director General, Directorate of Civil Aviation, P.O. Box 2819, Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania (TELEGRAPHIC ADDRESS: DIRECTAIR DAR ES SALAAM/TELEX: 41120 DIRAIR) at least 48 hours prior to departure. Telegrams should be prepaid for reply.

2. All requests must include:

a. Name and address of aircraft operator;

b. Aircraft type and registration marks;

c. Date and place of origin of flight;

d. Complete route itinerary including dates and times (UTC) of entry into and exit from Tanzania airspace and aerodromes and times for landing, if landing;

e. Name of pilot and number of crew;

f. Number of passengers and type and amount of cargo; and

g. Purpose of flight. Any changes to a permitted flight also require 48 hours prior notice.

3. Nonscheduled commercial flights (for the purpose of taking on or discharging passengers, cargo or mail) must request clearance by letter, telex or reply-paid telegram 14 days prior for operation of more than 14 days.

4. All flights overflying or landing in Zanzibar (including Pemba Island) must additionally request permission from the Principal Secretary, President's Office. P.O. Box 4220, Zanzibar (TELEX: 57311 AWK ZNZ TZ) in sufficient time to permit processing and a reply.

5. Foreign military and state aircraft require diplomatic clearance before overflying or landing in Tanzania.

SPECIAL NOTICES

1. All departing passengers are required to pay a departure tax in foreign exchange equivalent to $20.00.

2. There is a departure tax of U.S. $20.00 when flying to Zanzibar and $5.00 when traveling by ship or boat.

3. Passengers to Zanzibar from mainland Tanzania are subject to customs and immigration formalities even though such flights are considered domestic.

4. Any individual travelling to Zanzibar or Pemba Island must have a current cholera vaccination certificate.

5. Unscheduled foreign operators must confirm availability of JET 91 and AVGAS 100LL from: Head Office BP Tanzania, P.O. Box 9043, Dar Es Salaam, TELEX: 41044, FAX: 46728; 7 days notice is required.
