ORLANDO, Fla. Jan. 12, 2000 AirTran Airways has been awarded 21 State of New York government contracts. Awarded through a bidding process, the contracts permit air transportation, between specific city pairs, for travelers on official government business. "AirTran is proud to be a select carrier of the New York State Government," Kevin Healy, AirTran Airways' vice president of planning. "AirTran was awarded United States Government contracts in August 1999 and State of Florida bids in December, and we are extremely gratified to be recognized again for outstanding, affordable service." The contracts were awarded competitively, identifying "best overall value" in flight schedules and price. The contract period will run through Nov. 30, 2000. In a continuing effort to meet increased demand and enhance customer service and convenience, AirTran Airways will add one daily roundtrip flight between Buffalo/Niagara and Atlanta on January 18, 2000. |
