November 23, 1962, Ellicot, Maryland, a United Airlines Vickers Viscount 745D encounters a flock of swans at 6,00 feet. The birds struck the tail stabilizer causing structural damage. The pilots of the aircraft lost control causing the aircraft to crash killing all 18 on board. |
