Coast Guard Transports Injured Fisherman BOSTON-A Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod, Mass.,-based HH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew transported an injured fisherman from the deck of a fishing vessel 97-nautical miles east of Provincetown, Mass. Today. The crew of the 95-foot Fishing Vessel Virginia Surf requested a medical evacuation of a crewmember with a severed finger from his right hand. The helicopter crew hoisted the 45-year-old man and flew him to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston for treatment. The cause of the amputation was not reported to the Coast Guard. The man's identity and condition are also unknown. In an average day, Northeast-based Coast Guard crews conduct 17 search and rescue missions. |
