Bleriot Is The First To Cross The English Channel

July 25, 1909, Louis Bleriot is the first to cross the English Channel in a 25 horsepower monoplane that he built. He won London Daily Mail prize of 1,000 pounds. Hubert Latham had tried to make the crossing six days earlier but he developed engine failure and had to drop out. Bleriot is known for inventing the automobile lights.
