The First Black Pilot To Be Killed

 

November 7, 1944. Tuskegee Airmen Killed. One of the first Black Pilots, Captain William J. Faulkner was killed on a combat mission over Austria, after completing fifty-six battle missions with the 332nd Fighter Group, commanded by Col. B.O. Davis Jr.

On many occasions he had been cited for bravery, leadership and efficiency, and was holder of the Air Medal with four oak leaf clusters.
