An Iran Air Force Lockheed C-130 Hercules Collides   With An Airbus 300

February 2, 2000, A Iran Air Force C -130 on a training flight lost control while preparing for takeoff at Teheran's Mehrabad airport. The C-130 collided into and Airbus 300 operated by Iran Air.

The two aircraft collided on the ground while the Airbus was being towed to a maintenance hanger. Both planes caught on fire and where destroyed. Officials reported that over five maintenance personnel onboard where killed.

Iran Air has had its share of fatalities in the pass. In 1993, an Iranian airliner collided with an air force jet just after takeoff from Mehrabad Airport killing over 130 onboard. On July 3, 1988, Iran Air lost an Airbus 300 in which it was shot down by a surface to air missile from an American naval vessel, U.S.S. Vincennes. All 16 crew and 274 passengers were killed.
