November 29, 1929 . Night-Flying Beacon Night-Flying beacon of the type placed along the route between Chicago and Cheyenne, Wyoming, to guide Air Mail pilots. The miniature "Lighthouses" were placed three miles apart; each one was visible for 10 miles, thus forming a continuous path across the dark ground below.
