Black Pilots Form Organization

Black Pilots Form Organization

September 18, 1976, over 80 Black pilots gathered at the O'Hare Hilton Hotel in Chicago to discuss a better means in assisting and promoting Black aviators in the aviation industry.

Born out of their meetings was the forming and implementation of the "Organization of  Black Airline Pilots"  (OBAP). Their goals will include motivating youth, increase minority participation, encourage networking, assist in promoting the hiring of Black pilots and providing scholarships. OBAP membership will included pilots, FAA personnel, and others related to the aviation industry.
