Pan Am 727 Crashes Just After Takeoff  

July 9, 1982 a Pan Am 727 crashes just after departing New Orleans International Airport killing 138, passengers, 7 crewmen and 8 civilians on the ground. The NTSB is currently investigating this disaster and it is believed the 727 crashed do to weather conditions.

At 3:45 p.m. the Pan Am flight crew was given a clearance to taxi to runway 10. As the 727 was taxing to runway 10, two windshear alerts were given by ATC at the airport. At 4:06 ATC cleared the Pan Am 727 for takeoff. After departing at witness reported the 727 was unable to gain altitude.
