November 8, 1967, Capt. Gerald O. Young, Aerospace Rescue and Recovery Service (ARRS) pilot and recipient of the Medal of Honor. His HH-3E crashed during a rescue mission on November 8, 1967. Rather than allow the enemy to use him as "bait" for an ambush, he led them away from the crash site. He was rescued the following day. Pararescue jumpers (PJ's) Sgt. Charles P. Vogeley and Sgt. Dennis M. Richardson assist Col. Devol Brett into a 37th ARRS Squadron HH-3E "Jolly Green."

Brett's F-4C was hit by ground fire over North Vietnam and he made an over-water ejection. The HH-3E was flying a precautionary orbit and rescued him 10 minutes after he landed in the water. Capt.
