Piper Votes - Union Out | ||
Vero Beach, Fla - March 15, 2006. Today, Region 12 of the National Labor Relations Board conducted a certification election at The New Piper Aircraft, Inc. The election hours were from 1:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at two polling locations at Piper’s plant located at 2926 Piper Drive, Vero Beach, Florida. Subsequent to the close of the polls, NLRB officials manually tabulated the ballots. The ballot tally was 307 votes to retain the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers as the collective bargaining representative and 401 votes to oust the IAMAW as the collective bargaining representative. The results of the NLRB election mean that Piper employees chose to reject continued union representation and to nullify the existing collective bargaining agreement. The New Piper Aircraft, Inc., headquartered in Vero Beach, Fla., is the only general aviation manufacturer to offer a complete line of aircraft for every general aviation mission, from trainers and high-performance aircraft for personal and business use to turbine-powered business aircraft. |
