The Wright Brothers Fly A Complete Circle  

Simms Station, Ohio, September 20, 1904, Wilbur Wright flies the first complete circle in an airplane. The flight is witnessed by Amos Root, publisher of Gleanings in Bee Culture. The flight was accomplished in his second Wright Flyer. This was a major accomplishment from short straight hops. The Wright brothers realized that for an aircraft to be meaningful it would be required to make turns. The aircraft was powered by a 16 h. p. gasoline engine; 2 pusher propellers, dual front elevators (canard); dual rear rudders. the aircraft weight was 730 lbs.
