Lightning Strike Blinds Pilot And Co-pilot

August 31, 1940, Lovettsville, Virginia, a Pennsylvania Central Airlines DC-3 encountered severe turbulence and lightning while flying through a thunder storm. A discharge of lightning blinded the captain and co-pilot resulting in the loss of control over the aircraft. The DC-3 aircraft nose dived crashing killing all 25 on board.
