FAA Authorizes Valujet To Add 3 Aircraft

The Federal Aviation Administration on Wednesday said it authorized ValuJet Airlines to add three DC-9 aircraft to its fleet. Following a complete review of all maintenance documents on each plane. ValuJet had applied to the FAA in November for permission to add five aircraft to its fleet of 15 DC-9s and to add three additional cities to its route system, the FAA said.

The FAA's decision on Wednesday allows three of those aircraft to be added, while decisions on the remaining two planes are still pending. The FAA on January 3 approved ValuJet's plans to begin service to West Palm Beach and Ft. Myers, Florida.
