Western Airlines DC-3 Crashes In the Mountains, Actress Carol Lombard Was One Of The Passengers On Board.  

January 16, 1942. Western Airlines DC-3 Departs Albuquerqu, New Mexico for a flight to Las Vegas then a final stop at Los Angeles Airport. On board was the pilot and co-pilot and 20 passengers. Of the passengers actress Carol Lombard and 15 Army fliers.  At about 6 pm the DC-3 landed at Las Vegas Airport to refuel, shortly after 7 PM the DC-3 departed. Within minutes from departing the DC-3 crashed cashed into the mountains. Reports indicate that their are no survivers and because the military had personnel on board this flight, the Army and Civil Aeronautics Authorities have taken control of the site and investigation.
