New Winglets Boost Performance of Boeing Next-Generation 737-800

February 18, 2000,  A Boeing Next Generation 737-800 equipped with a new, advanced technology winglet soars above the clouds in this photo illustration. Boeing is offering the 8-foot long winglet as an option on the 737-800, with first delivery expected in the spring of 2001. The winglet will allow a new airplane that already flies farther, higher and more economically than competing products to save on fuel, extend its range, carry more payload and benefit the environment. Applicability of the "blended" winglet to other Next-Generation 737 models is being assessed.
