More than 8,000 pilots volunteered in 1998s Young Eagle Program

More than 8,000 pilots volunteered in 1998s Young Eagle Program, which has flown more than 460,000 young people since 1992 while introducing them to the world of aviation.  100,838 young people, the largest yearly total in the six-year history of the program, were registered in 1998.  Through this program, they have an opportunity to learn more about aviation.  This gives them another option that they may have never considered for themselves.

During the programs six years, over 22,000 volunteer pilots from six continents have helped to broaden the career possibilities for thousands of young people, and in doing so, have become outstanding role models. Many organizations participated in 1998s EAA Young Eagles Program in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.  They included The Canadian Owners and Pilots Organization (COPA), the Civil Air Patrol, and various other aviation groups.  Several EAA members also took part in the program, making 1998 the Young Eagles most successful year.
