Kidnapper Arrested Involving Lakeland Pilot

December 20, 2009 - On Friday, the FBI arrested Stobert Lindell Holt, age 42, on charges of first degree murder, kidnapping and extortion. Back on April 1, 2008, Robert Arthur Wiles disappeared from his fathers business, National Flight Services, an aircraft maintenance company located at Lakeland Linder Regional Airport in Florida. Wiles, age 26 at the time, was employed with the company as a business development manager and aircraft pilot.

Two days after Wiles disappearance the family received a ransom note. However no further demands were ever made for a ransom. Holt was a former employee with National Flight Services, a business Wiles' father Thomas Wiles owned.

The FBI reported while Wiles' body has not been found, their investigation has revealed Wiles was killed and they believe Holt was involved. A state grand jury indicted Holt on Wednesday, he was arrested without incident in Orlando. For more than two years, the parents, Thomas and Pamela Wiles said they had hoped their son was alive. The family had offered a $250,000 reward for information leading to a conviction in the case. Wiles’ car was located at the family business, and he had missed a flight from Orlando to Dallas scheduled the day after his disappearance. "We just want Robert back," Thomas Wiles said.

Robert Arthur Wiles is 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighs 165 pounds, hazel eyes with brown hair was raised in Melbourne, Florida. He attended high school at Florida Air Academy and graduated from Florida Institute of Technology. "He loved aviation, planes. His dad was in that business. He learned to fly early. He was 16 years old he enjoyed that," said Jim Macri, a neighbor. Thomas and Pamela Wiles have reported that their son loved sports, a popular young man and he had no known enemies. Wiles’ mother, Pam Wiles, has repeatedly reported there is "no way" her son was involved in anything illegal.

Back in March, the FBI reported they were "very confident" that an arrest would be made against the abductor or abductors, but did not name any suspects, believed a disgruntled employee of the family business was involved and the person or persons involved in the disappearance of Robert Wiles knew him, his work routine, and had access to his personal information.

National Flight Services is a full service FBO with locations in Lakeland, Florida, San Antonio, Texas, Toronto, Ontario, Canada and Kansas City, Missouri. The company began operations back in 1960, as and FAA certified repair station. The company provides aircraft maintenance and specializing in TPE331 maintenance in Toledo, Ohio; San Antonio, Texas; and Lakeland, Florida as well as an Approved Maintenance Organization (AMO) in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
