April 21, 2010 - Airship Ventures’ Zeppelin Eureka returned today to Southern California and, for the first-time ever, will offer Ventura County flights. Departing from Camarillo Airport, these passenger flights will take place Thursday, April 22, weather permitting. The first of two scheduled dates to fly from Camarillo, this week’s flights are the precursor for a second series of Ventura County flights on May 15.

Eureka is expected to arrive mid-morning on Thursday and offer flights through sunset. Those unable to fly, but who want to get up-close and personal with Eureka, are invited to come to the Camarillo Airport to watch the world’s largest airship take-off and land throughout the afternoon.

In addition to offering passenger tours, Airship Ventures will be supporting the efforts of current marketing partner Farmers Insurance on Thursday when it flies above an event at the company’s nearby headquarters celebrating retirees. This marks the first in a series of Southern California events the airship will “attend” in support of the partnership this month. This Saturday, April 24, and Sunday, April 25, Eureka will sail above March of Dimes’ March for Babies events in Los Angeles and Newport Beach, respectively.

Farmers, the second largest fundraiser for the March of Dimes nationwide, is a proud sponsor of March for Babies. Airship Ventures will fly the largest-ever Farmers logo above both events, demonstrating both organizations’ support and encouragement of all walkers. Furthermore, for all full-fare April 24 and 25 bookings made this week, Airship Ventures will donate 10 percent to the March of Dimes and its efforts in support of healthy babies.

Starting at $199/person, plus taxes, Camarillo-based flights will sail above scenic hills and valleys and offer panoramic vistas of some of the most famous coastline on earth. While not in Camarillo, Eureka will be based at her Southern California home at Long Beach, flying signature Los Angeles-area routes above the City of Angels and its famous coast through April 25, weather permitting.

Stretching 15-feet longer than a 747 and 50-feet longer than the largest blimp, Eureka is the world’s largest airship. One of only three Zeppelins currently operating in the world, the airship offers passengers spectacular 360-degree views of the sights on flightseeing tours above Los Angeles, San Francisco Bay, Silicon Valley, Monterey and San Diego.

Airship Ventures, Inc. was founded in 2007 in California, Airship Ventures, Inc., operates the only passenger airship operation in the United States, featuring Eureka, the world’s largest airship. The Zeppelin’s spacious cabin comfortably accommodates one pilot, one flight attendant, and 12 passengers, with luxury features including oversized panoramic windows, an onboard restroom with window, and a 180-degree rear observation window and “love seat” that wraps the entire aft of the cabin. Using the inert gas helium for lift, and vectored thrust engines for flight, Zeppelin NTs have been flying in Germany and Japan since 1997 with an unparalleled safety record.
