January 26, 2010 - Actor John Travolta along with his wife Kelly Preston on Monday made good on his promise to fly humanitarian relief to earthquake-ravaged nation of Haiti, on a Qantas Airlines Boeing 707 which was sponsored by the airline. The humanitarian relief included food, medical supplies, medical personnel and relief volunteers.

Travolta was grateful to Qantas Airlines for allowing him the use of their passenger aircraft. “I want to thank Qantas Airlines and its chief executive Alan Joyce. Alan is allowing me to fly the Boeing-707 that’s sitting in the backyard, fill it with supplies, fill it with doctors, fill it with volunteer ministers, and take it down to Haiti on Monday - so thank you, thank you, thank you,” Travolta said.

Travolta was also responsible for organizing a flight back on January 12th to Haiti, flying down humanitarian relief supplies. John Joseph Travolta is an American actor, dancer and singer. He first became known in the 1970s, after appearing on the television series Welcome Back, Kotter and starring in the box office successes Saturday Night Fever and Grease. Travolta's career re-surged in the 1990s, with his role in Pulp Fiction, and he has since continued starring in Hollywood films, including Face/Off, Ladder 49 and Wild Hogs.

Travolta has twice been nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor. The first, for his role in Saturday Night Fever and the second for Pulp Fiction. He won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor - Motion Picture Musical or Comedy for his performance in Get Shorty.

Travolta is a certified pilot and owns five aircraft, including an ex-Australian Boeing 707-138 airliner. The plane bears the name Jett Clipper Ella in honor of his children. Pan American World Airways was a large operator of the Boeing 707 and used Clipper in its names. The 707 aircraft bears the marks of Qantas, as Travolta acts as an official goodwill ambassador for the airline wherever he flies. His $4.9 million estate in the Jumbolair subdivision in Ocala, Florida, is situated on Greystone Airport with its own runway and taxiway right to his front door.

Qantas Airlines was founded in the Queensland outback in 1920, registered originally as the Queensland and Northern Territory Aerial Services Limited. Qantas Airlines has built a reputation for excellence in safety, operational reliability, engineering and maintenance, and customer service. Today, Qantas is widely regarded as the world's leading long distance airline and one of the strongest brands in Australia.

The Boeing 707 is a four-engine commercial passenger jet airliner developed by Boeing in the early 1950s. Its name is most commonly pronounced as "Seven Oh Seven". Boeing delivered a total of 1,010 Boeing 707s, and also offered a smaller, faster model of the aircraft that was marketed as the Boeing 720.

Although it was not the first commercial jet in service, the 707 was among the first to be commercially successful. Dominating passenger air transport in the 1960s, and remaining common throughout the 1970s, the 707 is generally credited with ushering in the Jet Age.[3][4] It established Boeing as one of the largest makers of passenger aircraft, and led to the later series of aircraft with "7x7" designations.
