June 1, 2014 – On Saturday seven people killed
in a plane crash at Bedford Hanscom Field in
Bedford, Massachusetts. At or about 9:40 PM a
Gulfstream IV, N121JM was departing the airport
for Atlantic City International Airport, New
Jersey on runway 11 when the jet ran off the
runway, crashed and burst into flames.
Upon impact the private plane exploded, rattled
nearby homes and sent a large fireball and a
plume of black smoke into the air. Officials
report all seven aboard the Gulfstream were
killed in the crash.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene within
moments of the crash and extinguished the fire,
the aircraft was destroyed. The airport has been
closed for an indefinite period of time. The
aircraft was operated by SK Travel LLC. Onboard
was a crew of 3 and 4 passengers.
Early reports indicate the Gulfstream IV was
cleared to takeoff on runway 11 (runway is 7011
feet long). The jet accelerated normally to
takeoff speed, the pilot attempted to raise the
nose and take off however, the pilot aborted the
takeoff.
