Eurocopter Recruits Over 300 Engineers To Support Research And Development

By Steve Hall

June 22, 2011 - Eurocopter has launched an ambitious program to hire over 300 experienced engineers for its French and German operations as the company further enhances its research and development resources in remaining one of the world’s helicopter industry leaders.

This employment outreach is focused on skilled engineers with more than four years of experience, who are being recruited to join Eurocopter’s research and development teams in Marignane, France and Donauwörth, Germany.

Based on the theme, “write the next chapter of our history together,” the recruitment campaign’s scope includes a dedicated website, specific hiring pages on several Internet social networks, outreach at major industry shows and events, briefing sessions with research and development leaders at Eurocopter locations, and references via the company’s own employees.

"Every day, Eurocopter is opening the frontiers of flight with innovation-driven new programs, and we are looking for motivated, skilled engineers who can contribute to our continued leadership in the global helicopter industry,” said Eurocopter President & CEO Lutz Bertling. “We have set the ambitious goal of launching a new helicopter initiative or performing a first flight every year, which offers exciting opportunities for engineers who join our team.”

Examples of Eurocopter’s current activities include among others concept validation of its X3 high-speed hybrid helicopter demonstrator, which has surpassed flight speeds of 220 KTS; certification and production start-up for the new multi-role EC175 in a cooperative effort with China; development of the new EC145 T2 version of the company’s popular EC145 rotary-wing aircraft; family evolution and operational support for the Tiger attack helicopter, which today is performing combat missions in 2 operational theaters, and finally start of the development of a fully new and highly innovative helicopter.

In addition to these 300 experienced engineers, Eurocopter is recruiting young graduates from the best engineering schools. Eurocopter was established in 1992, the Franco-German-Spanish Eurocopter Group is a division of EADS, a world leader in aerospace, defense and related services. The Eurocopter Group employs approximately 17,500 people.

In 2010, Eurocopter confirmed its position as the world’s number one helicopter manufacturer in the civil and parapublic market with a turnover of 4.8 billion Euros, orders for 346 new helicopters and a 49 percent market share in the civil and parapublic sectors. Overall, the Group’s helicopters account for 33 percent of the total worldwide civil and parapublic fleet. Eurocopter’s strong worldwide presence is ensured by its 30 subsidiaries and participations on five continents, along with a dense network of distributors, certified agents and maintenance centers.

There are currently 11,200 Eurocopter helicopters in service and some 2,900 customers in 147 countries. Eurocopter offers the largest civil and military helicopter range in the world.
