Authorities
reported on Friday that the manager for the Moorings Hotel and Marina
Resort reported that a 44 foot long cruiser powerboat had been stolen on
Tuesday from the marina in Marsh Harbor, Great Abaco Island and that Colton
Harris-Moore, dubbed the “Barefoot Burglar” for the reason that he once
kicked off his shoes to flee police chasing him in the woods of his home
town Camano Island, Washington, had been spotted in Eleuthera. Authorities
further reported that Colton Harris-Moore was caught on surveillance
cameras at the marina about 4 AM next to Curly Tails restaurant at the
marina.
Eleuthera is very
long and thin island, 110 miles long and little more than a mile wide.
According to the 2000 Census, the population of Eleuthera is
approximately 8,000. The topography of the island varies from wide
rolling pink sandy beaches to large outcrops of ancient coral reefs. The
