May 10, 2010 —
From 11 to 14 May, strategies and programs of ICAO, industry, academic
research institutions and international organizations to harness
technological, scientific and economic solutions in the global fight
against climate change will be reviewed.
This includes key
developments from the 15th Conference of the Parties (COP/15) of the
United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, as well as two
ICAO events the Conference on Aviation and Alternative Fuels and the 8th
Meeting of the Committee on Aviation Environmental Protection.
The Colloquium provides a timely
context for the exchange of views on aviation and climate change in
anticipation of environment-related discussions and high-level
decision-making at the 37th Session of the ICAO Assembly in September
2010. |

A one-day tutorial
on 11 May will present a broad overview of aviation greenhouse gas
emissions (GHG) and familiarize participants with the vocabulary and
concepts used in the description, measurement, regulation, and
management of aviation GHG emissions.
It will focus on
strategies and programs of ICAO, industry, academic/research
institutions and international organizations to harness technological,
scientific and economic solutions in the global fight against climate
change.
This event will
allow representatives from different stakeholders to share information
on aviation and climate change with a view to facilitating
environment-related discussions and high-level decision-making at the
37th Session of the ICAO Assembly. |
