Under Tilton’s leadership, United has made cancer-related programs the cornerstone of its volunteer efforts, engaging employees, customers and their families in supporting fund-raising events across the country.

Through a highly successful multi-year, cause-related “Hugyou Teddy Bear Family” program United and its customers have generated more than 148 million airline miles and nearly half a million dollars in cash contributions for cancer patients and their families who need to travel for treatment, and United employees volunteer to deliver special Hugyou bears to children undergoing cancer treatment in hospitals.  

Jackie Tilton is a key contributor to the fund-raising programs, with Jackie and Glenn Tilton consistently supporting the annual American Cancer Society Discovery Ball, chairing the most successful event in 2008, which raised more than $2 million. They also became two of the founding members of the Laureate Society, a leading donor recognition group of the American Cancer Society.
