November 6, 2010 – The Philadelphia Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (Philadelphia NAACP) and US Airways announced they are partnering to enhance the airline’s workplace diversity programs in Philadelphia and Washington, D.C.

As part of this partnership, US Airways will continue to demonstrate its strong commitment to diversity and equal opportunity for all employees and will enhance the airline’s workplace diversity programs in Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) and Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA).

The Philadelphia NAACP and US Airways will collaborate at these airports to enhance the airline’s diversity and equal opportunity programs, training, personnel, policies, and procedures, will take joint efforts to promote diversity and equal opportunity, and will maintain a direct dialogue concerning these issues in the future.

US Airways Vice President of Human Resources Dan Pon said, “Our recent collaboration with the Philadelphia Branch of the NAACP will strengthen our continued and robust commitment to workplace diversity at these two important airports. We have long held a zero tolerance for discrimination of any kind and our partnership with the Philadelphia NAACP reflects that promise.”

Philadelphia NAACP President J. Whyatt Mondesire said, “The partnership we are announcing today reflects US Airways’ dedication to providing a diverse workplace and equal opportunity for all of their employees. We applaud US Airways’ interest in strengthening its diversity programs at these two airports.

US Airways has acted in a positive manner and has agreed to help to ensure that the company’s commitment to zero tolerance for discrimination is strengthened even further. We look forward to working with US Airways to further strengthen these programs and policies and to our ongoing dialogue with US Airways regarding these matters moving forward.”
