August 17, 2010 - Quebec air carrier Aeropro reported on Monday that the company is shutting down its flight operations as a result of its failure to convince a Federal Court in Quebec, Canada to reverse the decision made by Transport Canada which had revoking its operating license. Following a deadly crash near Quebec City on June 23, in which seven people onboard Aeropro’s Beechcraft King Air died shortly after takeoff.

Aeropro attorneys argued before Transportation Appeal Tribunal of Canada the government had not given the company ample warning or time to correct any of its problems before revoking their license to operate.

However, the Transportation Appeal Tribunal sided with the government stating the government followed appropriate procedures and acted to protect public safety. Aeropro stated it would cease flight operations, would not resort to further legal actions, and it would lay off 90 percent of its employees. The company will maintain its weather services and operations of airport management with its 10 or so remaining employees. 's an unfortunate situation and Aeropro wants to underline its employees' professionalism and dedicated work in these difficult past weeks," wrote Aeropro.

Aeropro is an air charter, aircraft maintenance and airport management company with its headquarters on the grounds of Québec City Jean Lesage International Airport in Sainte-Foy, Quebec City, Quebec, Canada. It conducted business charters and recreational and sightseeing flights across the province of Quebec. Its main base was located at Québec City Jean Lesage International Airport. The company had managed several airports in Quebec.

Within 24-hour of the fatal crash on June 23rd  Transport Canada suspending Aeropro permit to operate and on August 1, 2010, Transport Canada effectively grounded all air operations by revoking Aeropro's operating permit following an audit that found repeated violations of Canadian aviation regulations.

Transport Canada conducted a thorough investigation of the entire company that included a risk assessment and employee interviews. Transport Canada found significant shortcomings with respect to management, air operations and training. "A certificate cancellation is a rare and unusual measure that is not imposed lightly."

AeroPro has had its operating permit revoked by Transport Canada and the decision was as upheld on July 31, 2010 by a judge who turned down AeroPro's request for an injunction against Transport Canada. AeroPro filed an appeal with Transportation Appeal Tribunal. Transport Canada argued Aeropro had a "delinquent history and culture" undermine passenger and employee safety, provided inadequate pilot training, company lacked experience and a culture of non respect for safety rules.
