A Harding Working And Well Loved Ohio Airport Manager Passed Away By Alan Harding |

May 18, 2011 - Marla Rae Elliott, age 57, of Toms Road,
Bellville, Ohio passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, May
15, 2011 at Knox Community Hospital. She was born on
February 3, 1954 in Marion County, Ohio to the late Ray
and Linda Lou (Ward) Knapp.
Marla worked as the airport manager for the Knox County
Airport from 1994 until present. She was a strong
advocate for smaller airport aviation and would often
speak at the Ohio Aviation Conference.
Knox County Airport (FAA LID: 4I3) is a public use
airport located four nautical miles (7 km) southwest of
the central business district of Mount Vernon, a city in
Knox County, Ohio, United States. It is owned by Knox
County Airport Authority.
Marla was a member of the Ohio Airport Association and
currently served as secretary. At home, Marla enjoyed
working outside in her vegetable and flower gardens and
collecting cookie jars.

She was a member of the Buckeye Oliver Collectors where she
served as past secretary and the Oliver Hart-Parr National Club.
Marla just recently hosted the 2011 spring picnic for the
Buckeye Oliver Collectors.
She is survived by her husband, Larry Elliott, three sons, Drew
Elliott of Fredericktown, Bobby Fisher and Brian Fisher, a
daughter, Marcie Fisher, two brothers, Rick Knapp of Ashville,
Ohio and Terry (Jill) Knapp of Mount Gilead. She was preceded in
death by her parents.
Friends may call on Thursday from 1 to 3 p.m. and 5 to 8 p.m. at
the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon,
Ohio 43050. The family will observe a private funeral service
and burial. ?What a tragic loss. Marla was truly a special person. She was so committed to all that she did, to say nothing of her pride in her son. I spoke with Marla at the conference concerning her health issues as they were emerging, I was heartened by her positive attitude and the maturity and prospective with which she approached the future.
