Citationair Pilots Begin Using The Ipad For In-Flight Operations

By Jim Douglas

October 7, 2011 - CitationAir a leader in private jet transportation solutions, today announced that its pilots have begun using the Apple iPad Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) with the Jeppesen Mobile FliteDeck application.

CitationAir received FAA approval to use the device and is currently beta-testing it prior to a full distribution to all pilots. CitationAir is one of the first private aviation companies to use the iPad EFB.

With the Jeppesen Mobile FliteDeck application, CitationAir pilots will use the iPad instead of traditional paper charts for in-flight display of approach plates, flight planning, load manifests and trip itineraries, among other things.

Pilots will also be able to access general operating manuals, aircraft manufacturer operator?s manuals and other technical publications and applications on the iPad. ?By integrating the use of the iPad into our flight operations, CitationAir will become even more proficient in-flight, as well as in our dispatch and scheduling process,? said Bill Schultz, president and CEO of CitationAir. ?We are thrilled to take advantage of emerging technology in new and innovative ways to increase our operational efficiency.?

?Integrating Jeppesen Mobile FliteDeck on iPad helps operators enhance situational awareness, reduce pilot workload and improve operational efficiency. We look forward to collaborating with CitationAir on this transition process for using iPad in the cockpit,? said Tim Huegel, director of Jeppesen Aviation Portfolio Management.

?Jeppesen Mobile FliteDeck streamlines flight preparation, simplifies complex processes, eliminates labor associated with paper revisions and reduces clutter in the cockpit. CitationAir pilots will appreciate Jeppesen?s data-driven and interactive digital en route navigation information and worldwide geo-referenced terminal charts, which are presented through a dynamic and easy-to-use platform.?

CitationAir is an industry leader offering individuals and businesses the advantages of private jet travel through its innovative programs, including Jet Card, Jet Access, Jet Shares, Jet Management and Corporate Solutions products.

CitationAir by Cessna, founded in 2000 as CitationShares, is a subsidiary of Cessna Aircraft Company that provides private aviation services. It offers services in fractional jet ownership, jet card membership, corporate solutions and whole aircraft management.
