FAA To Rename Waypoints Named After Donald Trump At Palm Beach Airport

July 13, 2015 - The FAA has announced that it will replace several navigational waypoint names at the Palm Beach International Airport. These waypoints which are used by pilots to determine their position on a route have now become offensive and a number of pilots have requested not to fly these routes.

Apparently in 2010, an FAA worker, a fan of "The Apprentice," Trump's reality show thought it was amusing to name several waypoints after Donald Trump. The FAA unware of the names did not find it amusing and has reported the agency would rename the following fixes; DONLD (Donald), TRMMP (Trump), IVANK (Ivanka) and UFIRD (Your fired).

The change could take several months to take effect, the FAA said. Trump's Mar-a-Lago (Marjorie Merriweather Post estate) Club is under the airport’s main flight path. Trump purchased the the 126-room, 110,000-square-foot estate back in 1985 for $10 million.

There is also one more at question, BRTHR. Many people believe it stands for birther, a believer that President Barack Obama is not a U.S. citizen of the United States, and therefore he should not be president. All of this came to light when Republican Party presidential candidate Donald Trump went on this tirade on Mexico, he said they “are sending people that have lots of problems, and they are bringing those problems to us. They are bringing drugs, and bringing crime, and their rapists.” Trump recently said we should not have invaded Iraq but “Instead, we should have invaded Mexico.”

This divisive language has caused a number of companies to drop their business relationship with Trump. When Trump called Mexican immigrants “rapists” and “drug dealers.” Mexico's pageant organizers have indicated they will not send contestants to Trump’s Miss Universe pageant. And now pilots are angry that these waypoints at Palm Beach International Airport are named after Trump. Trump told The Palm Beach Post at the time that he was unaware that part of the air traffic route had been named in his honor, but was flattered by the thought.
