Investigators report that early investigations indicate the pilot did not contact air traffic control to report aircraft problems nor did the pilot make a distress call prior to the crash.

The Piper Archer aircraft which was manufactured in 1973 was owned and operated by Flyers Inc. Eyewitnesses reported the aircraft just before the crash sounded as if the aircraft was running out of gas and that the pilot appeared to be rocking the aircraft wings to the left and then to the right.

Shalloway was co-founder of Machine Gun America in a statement the company said, "Everyone at Machine Gun America is deeply saddened by the tragic events of that took the life of our co-founder Dan Shalloway. Dan loved to fly, was an engineer by trade, actively involved in politics and passionate about his community."
