Jordan Responds To Their Pilot Being Burned Alive By ISIS Militants

February 4, 2015 - On Tuesday ISIS militants released a video which purporting showed captive Jordanian pilot First Lieutenant Moaz al-Kasasbeh being burned alive in a cage.

"The blood of martyr Muath al-Kaseasbeh will not be in vain and the response of Jordan and its army after what happened to our dear son will be severe," said Jordan King Abdullah.

Back in December Kasasbeh was on a bombing run in a Jordanian F-16 fighter jet over Syria when his aircraft was hit by gunfire. Kasasbeh who was a devout Muslim ejected from the F-16 and upon landing he was immediately captured by ISIS fighters.

ISIS had reported that they were willing to exchange Kasasbeh for would-be suicide bomber Sajida al-Rishawi and with a deadline date of Saturday. However, Jordan which indicated they were willing to make the trade wanted assurance that their pilot was still alive after hearing reports that he was already dead. Attempts failed throughout the negotiations of learning if he was alive. It is now believed that the pilot was killed in early January.

Vowing to avenge the brutal murder of Jordanian pilot, Kasasbeh, Jordan on Tuesday by mid day announced it would execute Al-Rishawi and other jihadists held in Jordanian prisons on Wednesday. “The sentence of death pending on… Iraqi Sajida al-Rishawi will be carried out at dawn” a security official said. On Wednesday Jordan had reported that in the early hours they had executed Al-Rishawi and Ziad Khalaf al-Karbouly by hanging. There was no official immediate response from ISIS.
